The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held its seventh Western Balkans Civil Society Forum with the support of the European Commission and the Regional Cooperation Council. The forum brought together representatives of Western Balkans trade unions, employers and civil society organisations, EESC members, representatives of the governments of the Western Balkans, and EU and international institutions, to discuss the relations between the EU and the Western Balkans, the role of civil society in promoting regional cooperation and the state of social dialogue and civic space in the Western Balkans. Anja Bosilkova-Antovska represented BCSDN at the panel on assessment and perspectives of the relations between the EU and the Western Balkans, while BCSDN members Civic Initiatives, CRNVO and Partners Albania led the panel on enabling civic space. The Forum participants adopted the Final Declaration, expressing hope that the Enlargement will remain one of the EU’s priorities, despite the multitude of challenges it is currently facing.
