Centre for Information Service, Co-operation and Development of NGO

Slovenia's national NGO umbrella network, bringing together more than 1,600 associations, institutes and foundations and providing comprehensive support to the wider non-governmental sector. CNVOS combines legal and policy expertise, advocacy, training, counselling and information services to strengthen the operating environment and capacities of NGOs, and plays a prominent role in monitoring legislation and policies affecting civil society.

How to Become a BCSDN Member

BCSDN welcomes civil society organisations and networks committed to strengthening civil society and civic space in the Balkans. Membership starts with associate status, providing an opportunity to engage in the Network's work before becoming a full member.

Who can apply?

An organisation or network can apply for associate status if it:

is a registered civil society organisation or network in one of the countries covered by BCSDN, in accordance with national legislation; and
works to strengthen or develop civil society in the Balkan region, including through advocacy, capacity development or related activities.

How to apply

Interested organisations should submit:

an expression of interest, together with a statement confirming their commitment to BCSDN's vision and mission; and
recommendation letters from at least two BCSDN members, including one member from the candidate's country where BCSDN has an existing member there.

Applications for associate status are considered and approved by the BCSDN Council by a simple majority vote.

From Associate to Full Member

After at least one year as an associate, an organisation can express interest in becoming a full BCSDN member. To be eligible, it should have actively participated in the Network and its bodies and fulfilled its membership obligations, including payment of the membership fee. Full membership is approved by the BCSDN Council.

Ending Membership

Member or associate status may be terminated voluntarily through a written statement or by a decision of the BCSDN Council in cases defined by the BCSDN Statute, including prolonged non-participation, non-payment of membership fees, violation of BCSDN's governing acts or activities contrary to the Network's goals and reputation.
