On 6th and 7th December, the EC organized a P2P event on the topic: “Functioning system(s) for involving civil society in the policy development and decision-making process” in Skopje, Macedonia. The aim of the event, which brought together around 40 representatives of local CSOs, government representatives, EC and EU networking organizations, was to discuss potential contribution of CSOs during the decision-making process in Macedonia. Among others, the new Code of good practices for citizens’ participation in the decision-making adopted in July, 2011 was promoted together with the process of development of a new Government strategy to be finalized beginning of 2012. Experience of two New Member States – Slovenia and Slovakia – were presented and practical experience from several CSO representatives in participation to drafting legislation in Macedonia was offered in the panel, including 2 BCSDN member- MCIC and CNVOS. The second day of the event features smaller topic-related workshops to help devise concrete suggestions and ideas for improvement of the situation. More information are available on the P2P website.
