BCSDN had the opportunity to participate at two events that marked the European Volunteering Day in Macedonia. The first one was organized by the Macedonian Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility that held an Open Day for European Voluntery Service and the second was an open floor discussion jointly organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Youth Association creACTive. Both events were organized to support active civil society and to develop youth volunteerism in Macedonia. BCSDN is currently in the process of accreditation for EVS.
The National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility since its reopening held for the first time an open day to mark the European Day of Volunteering on the 5th of December. Opening remarks to the attendees had Darko Dimitrov, acting. Director of the National Agency and Spiro Ristovski, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs as well as Ms. Snezana Manceva, coordinator of the program "Youth in Action 'and Head Department of Youth Activities. The participants had the opportunity to attend presentations on EVS programmes and a possibility to have a direct contact with the staff and address questions related to Action 2 of the Youth in Action: European Voluntary Service (EVS). Since the reopening, the agency will be in charge as the national coordinator of this programme. At the same time, visitors had the opportunity to have direct contact with representatives of organizations actively implementing EVS projects and to hear the experience of volunteers from different countries of Europe that are currently found on his EVS project in Macedonia. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness about youth volunteering opportunities and benefits that are open to young people through European Voluntary Service within the program "Youth in Action".
On the same day an international event was organized on the topic of: Being Active in Civil Society, developing Youth Work and Volunteerism in Macedonia. Macedonian CSOs had an opportunity to discuss the forms of cooperation between the local governments and civil society in the field of youth activism and volunteering. Representatives from the city of Skopje and the twining cities of Djon and Roubaix shared their experiences and possibilities that this king of possibility offers. The need of a national strategy for youth work and volunteering was also discussed. Participants from Kosovo were also present at the event.
