On 3rd February, Tanja Hafner Ademi, Executive Director of BCSDN, lead a one-day workshop session for representatives of SEKOs (Sector organization of civil society - Sеktоrskе оrgаnizаciје civilnоg društvа) in Belgrade, Serbia. The aim of the workshop was to present EC’s policy and programmes for civil society in the Enlargement context and assist SEKOs to map their future role (via SWOT and priority needs assessment). One of the main conclusions steaming out of the workshop was that SEKOs, which cover 6 sectors and involve 216 CSOs across Serbia, have enabled further step in cooperation between state institutions and civil society. However, after almost 1 year since their establishment, CSOs are concerned how to proceed with functioning beyond formality, build and finance capacity of civil society in the field of advocacy and finally, who is the main institution assigned to support their work and communicate with them (i.e. Office for Cooperation with Civil Society or European Integration Office). The workshop was organized by the Serbian Office for Cooperation with CSOs. More information on SEKOs are available on the SEKO website (in Serbian only).
