Several countries have adopted artificial intelligence (AI) policies or “strategies” to manage algorithm-driven processes on how they will support innovation and education in the AI sector and direct the impact of AI systems’ design and deployment on people’s lives. The safeguards for fundamental rights and freedoms need to be streamlined into their structure, and CSOs must be proactively included in their production. Civil society engagement delivers expertise on the impact of AI-based systems on different groups of citizens, including risks on the ability to exercise their human rights. This contributes to rights-respecting use and deployment of algorithm-driven processes and will foster trust in the use of AI-systems. Read more here.
