The Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) published its latest report, “Challenges facing civil society organisations working on human rights in the EU”, which looks at the different types and patterns of challenges faced by civil society organisations working on human rights in the EU. The report notably recognises CSOs in the EU playing a crucial role in promoting fundamental rights, and so contributing to the functioning of democracies, yet the EU body alerts about the worrying trends emerging across Europe. In this regard, and even if the report is not meant at encompassing all the challenges faced by CSOs and active citizens, it contains a number of recommendations directed at CSOs but also EU decision-makers.
