On 18 January, the European Civic Forum officially launched Civic Space Watch, a collaborative tool to share resources and create a new, fast-responding alert system for active citizens, NGOs, journalists, researchers, whistleblowers, but also decision-makers on issues linked to civic space. The event saw the participation of numerous CSOs representatives, but also from several EU institutions’ representatives. The first goal of the platform will be to provide easy access to existing data, analysis, studies and institutional legislation that are often dispersed to stimulate systematic, comparative research on civic space in Europe. A convergence point of resources really needed to foster advocacy activities and policy-making in this field. The Civic Space Watch is online here.
