Voluntary contributions from both the community and the business sector are relatively insignificant sources of CSO funding. Around 17% of CSO report receiving some support from the local community, in the main those working on the protection of women and rural development and cultural and hobby associations. There are no figures indicating the size of community contributions, but almost certainly the sums are insignificant. Just over 12% of associations receive support from the business sector. This is mostly support from local businesses to sports activities, youth and children’s issues. Corporate philanthropy from large commercial enterprises is still the exception. The Raffeisen Bank and Telecom RS appear to be the only large companies supporting CSOs through limited calls for proposals.
