On 12 June, at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Ambassador Miroslav Papa, Permanent Representative of Croatia to the Council of Europe, deposited the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, by Croatia. The Croatian Parliament ratified the Convention on April 13, despite mass protests organized earlier in the capital city of Zagreb and in Split by (neo-)conservative groups, some of which closely-tied to the Catholic Church. The Convention will enter into force, as regards Croatia, on 1 October 2018. Read more here.
