II.2.5. Donor coordination

E-mail Print PDF

Data base for all foreign donations is up-dated in the frame of the Secretariat for European Affair in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. But, specific information for donations that are dedicated to the civil society is missing. Approximately, less than 15 million EUR annually are provided to the civil society organizations in national and local level.

The CSOs are not directly involved in the process of determination of the priorities of the donors. Having in mind that the biggest donors are EU, USAID, SDC and other state development agencies, usually the donors are providing their funds according to their mid-term strategies and priorities determined by their own states.

The Delegation of the European Commission in Skopje can be emphasize as one of the positive example where CSOs are involved in the agenda setting for the IPA funds. The Delegations usually inform the CSOs for the multi annual programing; they organized consultation meetings with CSOs; as well as they asked for written comments and proposals for setting the priorities in all IPA components.
