Legal framework-Law on freedom of association (incl. foundations) and its regulation

E-mail Print PDF

NGOs in Slovenia are – according to their legal status – either associations (most numerous) or foundations and institutes.

The Law on Associations or Societies Act was amended in the end of the year 2009 and the Ministry of interior invited NGOs to get actively involved in the drafting of the amendments. In 2009 several regional consultative events (co-organized by CNVOS) were held, which gathered input from local NGOs. The NGO working group for systematic legal framework reviewed the gathered contributions and prepared a document, which afterwards went for a public electronic consultation, which was concluded with a national panel discussion.
