CfA: Making the System Work - Ensuring Decent Work & Quality Jobs in the Western Balkans, Round Table, European Parliament, Brussels, 22.02.2012

E-mail Print PDF

The European enlargement process demands the harmonization of labor and social laws in the Western Balkan with the EU Social Acquis. The Decent Work Balkans Network have conducted research that confirms that the countries are still far from being able to guarantee, protect and fulfill the socio-economic rights in the Western Balkans. It is than crucial that the EU firmly insists on the full implementation of the adopted labor and employment legislation and ensures that legal control mechanisms for the promotion of workers’ and labor rights are guaranteed. This round table will gather EU representatives, members of the EP and CSO representatives to discuss how the EU Enlargement Strategy can contribute to support socio-economic partnerships between social partners, relevant CSOs and all levels of authorities, to better address this implementation and enforcement and to establish a set of priorities for the region.
