International Civil Society Week (ICSW) is a gathering for civil society to engage in finding shared solutions to global challenges, create connections that bring about positive social change, share tools that enhance citizen action, and celebrate people power. Organized in partnership between CIVICUS and Civic Initiatives as a local host and BCSDN as a regional partner, ICSW 2019 will take place in Belgrade, Serbia from 8-11 April.
This year’s theme – “The Power of Togetherness” – will explore ways that individuals and organisations around the world can work together to protect civic space and help ensure the resilience and sustainability of civil society locally and globally.
The ICSW 2019 programme will focus on three interrelated tracks:
- Bridges event sessions will explore how the current regional and global civil society context is changing, and connect participants and strengthen collaboration.
- Streets event sessions will look at ways to build constituencies and deepen the skill sets needed for successful civic action.
- Stairs event sessions seek to identify ways to build and sustain collective impact, and connect local and global efforts.
At ICSW 2019, you can take advantage of multi-purpose spaces that facilitate interactive and immersive encounters. Along with traditional plenary style discussions led by inspiring activists and thinkers, you can take part in 90-minute workshops to hone skills and knowledge and a variety of interactive sessions that will help you to build your network, connect with the frontline of social change, share and collaborate with others, and immerse yourself in the local context.
