BCSDN members and civil society experts will gather in Skopje on the 21st of June to discuss best practices as well as challenges in the role of CSOs in protecting and promoting of civic space. The aim of the conference is to reaffirm the value of civil society action in Macedonia and the region, and contribute to the global struggles of fighting the shirking civic space. The discussions will focus on exchange of good practices for monitoring and advocacy, improving accountability, and enhancing cooperation within the sector. By improving their environment, cooperation and own accountability, CSOs strive to (re)gain legitimacy and trust from their constituencies, citizens, donors and the policy makers, and hope to contribute towards more empowered civil society. The conference will be organized in three sections, presenting relevant good practices and examples in each of the following areas: CSO actions in promoting enabling environment for civil society development; Practices and standards for civil society accountability; Building coalitions for promoting civic space.
