BCSDN played a significant role at the EU TACSO 3 Civil Society Forum for the Western Balkans and Türkiye 2023, happening in Podgorica between 31 of May and 1st of June, by actively contributing to discussions and sharing valuable insights. The forum provided a platform for CSOs to address the civil society challenges and opportunities in the region.

During the plenary session on the enabling environment and civil society under pressure, BCSDN’s Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Ms. Anja Bosilkova- Antovska, presented key findings from the BCSDN Monitoring Matrix 2023 Report. Her presentation shed light on the state of civil society in the Western Balkans and Türkiye, highlighting the advancements, setbacks, and emerging trends.

BCSDN’s active participation in the forum provided an opportunity to share recommendations for enhanced EU support for CSOs. These focused on addressing the identified challenges, promoting legal reforms, and strengthening government-CSO cooperation. BCSDN emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment that enables CSOs to thrive and contribute to the region’s development.

BCSDN remains dedicated to supporting CSOs in WBT,  monitoring and advocating for fundamental freedoms, and fostering an enabling environment for CS. Through collaborative efforts and continued engagement, BCSDN strives to strengthen the capacity and resilience of CSOs, ultimately contributing to the overall development and democratization of the Western Balkans and Türkiye.
