BCSDN participated in the 15th edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum between the 21 – 22 of November 2022 in a Hybrid format. The event was organized by the Romanian NGDO Platform – FOND, with the financial support of the European Commission.
The main objective of the Forum was to highlight the role and involvement of civil society in crisis management response and humanitarian assistance in the context of the Ukrainian refugee crisis. The event also presented the results of awarded aid to Ukrainian CSOs that decided to internally support people in need. The BSNGOF participants were also invited to reflect on the strategic priorities of the Forum in the new post-pandemic and post-war context.
During the first session of the Forum titled: “Regional Reconstruction through Partnerships: From a Post-Pandemic and Post-War Context to Robust Partnerships for Democratic Development”, BCSDN’s Communication and Information Officer, Ms. Marija Vishinova, by focusing on recent BCSDN’s Monitoring Matrix findings, provided insights on CSO trends in Western Balkans. She highlighted the vital role that CSOs play in developing humanitarian processes, emphasizing WB CSOs’ role during the Ukrainian crisis and their response and synergies with Ukrainian citizens and CSOs’ practitioners. In the end, Ms. Vishinova recommended how CSOs could improve their image and strengthen their role in protecting and promoting a more enabling environment for civil society development.
