In its latest analysis, BiH Journalists as a part of the Safe Journalists Network reflect that the new Law on Freedom of Access to Information in BiH must not be an obsticle for media workers in the country. In contrast, the law must enable more transparent work of institutions on access to information and provide timely and detailed answers to media inquiries of institutions. Of particular concern is the long list of possible restrictions on access to information held by public authorities and the possibility of extending the current 15-day deadline for dealing with requests for access to information. Moreover, adequate access to information is one of the prerequisites for a democratic society, and the political authorities should enable much more transparent work. This analysis is prepared within the Sida-funded Project “Protecting Civic Space – Regional Civil Society Development Hub” implemented by BCSDN. Safe Journalists is one of the 10 regional grantees which project will contribute towards Hub’s mission and improved civic space in the Western Balkans. Read more here.
