Democracy is one of the priorities of the EU’s new funding instrument, Global Europe, also known as the Neighbourhood, Development, and International Cooperation Instrument. For the first time, this initiative presents various foreign policy and development tools to allow for more flexible use of the available funds, which total EUR 79.5 billion. As the EU plans where these funds will be allocated, the union needs to show it is committed to integrating democracy into its development aid. Read more here.
