Partners Albania together with a group of CSOs has sent a public letter several days ago to a number of state institutions and international organizations to protest the act of violence carried out several days ago by the Tirana Municipal Police against two employees of the municipality.
Unfortunately, physical violence was followed by the threat of life for both ladies, a case which is already reported to the Prosecutor Office. None of the state institutions addressed in the letter have reacted so far. For this reason the group of organizations has requested a meeting with the General Prosecutor, as well as the Mayor of Tirana, as the employer of the Tirana Municipal Police Director.
On 28 September, under the facilitation and support of the Gender Alliance for Development, it is expected to be held a large public meeting to address the issue of violence against women in general and that in the workplace in particular. The letter and more information are available here.
