Regional Anti-Corruption Forum in Skopje


Institute for Democracy Societas Civilis – Skopje, our member organization, Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation and Southeast European Leadership for Development Initiative (SELDI) held a regional forum: “Fighting Corruption: The Western Balkans in Focus” in Skopje last week. The event aimed to give impetus to ongoing and necessary anti-corruption reforms and to provide a space for discussion on ways to improve cooperation between international, governmental, and civil actors. The CSO representatives have agreed that the lack of political will in implementing systemic reforms remains a core democracy challenge. The participants called for more decisive actions, including stricter monitoring of budget spending, harsher sanctions for rule of law violations, and increased support and EU funding for those who implement successful reforms.
