The Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN) is organizing a regional workshop on CSO Accountability: “Reflections on the Self-Regulation of Civil Society by Sharing Regional and Global Experiences” that will take place online on 1 July 2021, at 14h CET.
The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness among civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Balkan region about the key principles, opportunities and challenges they should consider in developing and/or implementing self-regulatory mechanisms for being more effective, accountable and credible. The workshop will provide an opportunity for an exchange of knowledge and experiences about civil society self-regulation efforts and mechanisms.
The workshop will be opened by Ilina Neshikj, Interim Executive Director at Accountable Now, the Secretariat of the Global Standard for CSO Accountability for sharing positive examples from around the globe on self-regulation mechanisms. To emphasize the importance for improving the civil society accountability in the region, and vis –a-vis the EU Integration process, Tanja Hafner Ademi, Team Leader at EU TACSO 3 project will speak about the drafting and the practical implementation of the Guidelines for EU Support to Civil Society in Enlargement Region, 2021-2027 and their own activities aimed to support civil society’s efforts to improve its accountability.
The second part of the workshop will be devoted to sharing stories from Albania and North Macedonia on the process of the mechanisms’ development and implementation in the respective countries, as well as a practical example of how self-regulation mechanisms can contribute to improving the quality of social services provided by CSOs.
