In response to the Ministry of Justice’s unsatisfactory answer to the CSOs’ appeal to withdraw the proposed Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Civil Procedure, the Serbian CSOs, among which BCSDN member Civic Initiatives have once again sent a letter to the Ministry, highlighting the numerous gaps, requesting for the restart of the drafting process. In the letter, the CSOs urged the Ministry to publish the starting points and initiate a more transparent process for creating a new working group. They criticize the Ministry presented a lump sum assessment of the fulfillment of all legally prescribed obligations in drafting the law, which is inconsistent with the insight into official documents on the Ministry’s website. The letter also reflects the key objection of CSOs regarding the foreseen consequences of losing the right to judicial protection in case of non-payment of fees was resolved based on the agreement reached by the Ministry with the Serbian Bar Association.
