As part of our activities as sub-regional secretariat for the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) for the Balkans region, BCSDN participated in a face-to-face training for the upcoming monitoring for indicator Two – CSO Enabling Environment, within the Third Monitoring Round for the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC).
The three-day training took place in Nairobi from January 30th to February 1st and included around 20 national and regional focal points from Europe, Africa and Asia. By providing methodology overview and guidance for the upcoming monitoring the training aimed to place CPDE to make a significant impact with respect to its priority to highlight and advocate for a reversal to the shrinking civil society space at the country level through the third Monitoring Round.
BCSDN will further share the information and provide guidance before and during the monitoring of the indicator 2 to its national country focal points: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia.
The Third Monitoring Round of progress in development effectiveness commitments for the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation will be initiated in the second quarter of 2018, following the approval of a revised Monitoring Framework at the first GPEDC Steering Committee meeting in 2018. The GPEDC’s Monitoring Round tracks progress on key commitments for development effectiveness through 10 indicators. This monitoring process is country-led and is a crucial process within the GPEDC.
